The Book of MistakesG cat cow thing? It made an excellent bushAnd the inky smudges they look as if they were always meant to be leaves floating gently across the skyAs one artist incorpo Wow This book celebrates improvisation and imagination It shows how simple improvised changes can transform artwork 'mistakes' into something that is purposeful and even beautiful The transformation of the artwork is so subtle at first but becomes majestic and awe inspiring by the end The illustrations created using black ink colored pencils and watercolor are simply fantastic and I know that I could spend several minutes looking at almost any individual page and still find something new to amaze me I loved this book and even though our girls are far beyond the age at which they would gravitate to picture books I asked them to read it with me Our youngest was far less inspired than I was but our oldest daughter really liked it I'm not sure how younger children will react but this seems to be a book that is destined to be beloved by adults I have read this book several times in the last couple of days aloneI don't often give 5 star ratings to books and it just so happens that I have given two of them in the last week Both are books are nominees in the final round of the best picture book category for the Goodreads Choice Awards for 2017 Certainly the field is competitive this year and I look forward to seeing the results Set your imagination free
