Smith ✓ A decade after extracting himself from the worst time in his life David Bennett finds himself drawn back to the place that still haunts him Through a series of strange events David finds himsStill haunts him Through a series of strange events David finds himself in the heart of a century old tale of supernatural Admittedly I'm a bit excited to review this book and by review I mean discuss because there's just so much here sprawlingI call this book a blossoming flower because it's a book of unfolding slow unfolding paragraph by paragraph chapter by chapter the plot unfolds without the tackiness of severe plot twists and how cool because what's unfolding is not only being revealed to you as the reader but also to the narrator It was like walking slowly and peering behind every corner before turning onto it The content is uite disturbing but it's told in this slow unfolding gentle way that makes it very palatable relatable and alluring Like gentle horror Lol I guess it fits with the genre paranormal kind of feels like soft core horror Excellent consistency though with tone and just in general I'm kind of bummed because I feel that this book would be even so much better with professional editing there's a lot here just over 300 pages and spelling and word and omission errors throughout skin that is taught instead of taut for example There's also this odd combination of sentence fluidity and then sporadic sentencelanguage awkwardness; however this is somehow rendered weirdly irrelevant considering how heavy handed this book is with first person narrative which I highly commend since I don't think it easy to pull off narrating huge chunks of a story in first person without the story seeming too boring or familiar so as to render it unbelievableI'm pretty God based so it was also interesting to read about a concept of evil only capable of being destroyed by evil Also really interesting in this book is the concept of people born of special powers being destroyed by humans for this difference and then these people returning to attempt to use their special powers on destroying the humans who destroyed them It's also kind of a creation storyI really recommend professional editing for this book Otherwise it's pretty damn good Solid writing as a whole

Terror with no hope of escaping alive Will he be willing to pay the ultimate price for redemption or will the dead claim hi Alright despite my reading dates listed I actually blew through 90% of this book in one day I thoroughly enjoyed this story Whatever expectations I had going in based off the summary the way the story unfolded was definitely far off where my mind was going It's so much than a story about a guy poking around a haunted house My only complaint was that the end sort of felt like it dragged on but the reveal that the last few pages gave than made up for thatSolid 4 stars from me Loved the writing the story I found the characters easy to root for

The Morbid Fascinations of David BennettA decade after extracting himself from the worst time in his life David Bennett finds himself drawn back to the place that Morbid indeedWhen I first started reading this story I could not have predicted the numerous twists and turns it spider webbed into At the beginning David was a paranormal ghost hunter desperately trying to find something real Then his next investigation took him back to the house where his life crumbled several years before When he lived there he too sensed negative spirits however in his absence the energies have grew much strongerI really enjoyed Smith's story telling From the start it pulled me in and made me want to solve the mystery I also read it before bed and the moment I turned off the light his words lingered in my mind and freaked me out Which I love from a book His descriptions of horror made my skin crawl and goose bumps to arise on my arms however I do think at times he took the gore too far and it became distracting I also wasn't a fan of the harsh language again the terms he used were distracting and vulgar and pulled me out of the story Several times there were great ideas that unfortunately didn't go anywhere What happened to the burglar that ended up wedged in the garage door? What happened to Bobby? What spirit attacked him at the hotel? I wish there had been details regarding secondary characters rather than the heavy trips to the beyond Overall this book held my attention and was very different from anything I've read before It was heartbreaking and scary and unexpected It also confirms my steadfast belief never to enter a house that may be haunted because you never know what lurks behind closed doors
