Nachos Hash Marys Boys #1N the high school dropout serving him nachos As Darwin falls in love Cody struggles to realize his worth When his past threatens the fragile life he is building Cody spirals into a moment of dark desperation But Darwin is determined to show Cody that love and family and home are there for him will Cody accept what is offere. Darwin has achieved nearly everything he's wanted a great job a fabulous career money a nice place to live he's missing out on the romance part He's been dating but none of those dates have led to anything permanent than a one night stand and this latest date is simply another disasterHowever things might be looking up his waiter Cody is cute and Darwin thinks there might be something there Cody dropped out of high school and hightailed it out of his hometown to escape the homophobia His job as a waiter at Hamburger Mary's in Denver is enough to keep a roof over his head and OMG there are lots of gay people in Denver so Cody feels much at home When one of his customers at the restaurant expresses interest in Cody he's a bit reluctant to believe that someone as successful as Darwin could see anything other than a piece of ass in CodyBut Cody is wrong Brandon Witt crafted a really cute novella here and this being the first in a new series I can hardly wait to see what is in store for us I liked how different Darwin and Cody were but how their dreams and aspirations while not the same were very much alike after all even if it didn't appear that way Both wanted someone to love to build a life with to hold at night to wake up with in the morning While Darwin's overall dreams were perhaps a little bigger Cody still wanted the same fundamental things as well Their relationship develops fast with ILYs coming relatively soon after meeting but it didn't feel unrealistic I guess when you know you know and that was part of what made this book a great read I believed their connection I believed their romance The author explored Cody's issues with self worth uite well and it was rather obvious to this reader that what happened had to happen for Cody to move forward There is a bit of angst too and I won't go too much into the cause of it as it's for the most part outside of their relationship and thankfully doesn't last long The supporting cast was lovely and fiercely supportive and helped Darwin and Cody along uite a bit in realizing their relationship potentialMy previous reads by Brandon Witt tended to be angsty and this book is a welcome departure from that It's much light hearted and fun Also drag ueens A great start to what seems to be shaping up to be a great series can't wait to read about Mary's Boys I received a free copy of this book from its publisher A positive review was not promised in return

Nachos Hash (Marys Boys #1) review Ì 100 ¿ A Mary's Boys Novella Darwin Michaels is living his dreams in the Mile High City While Denver offers the perfect job scrumptious dining and whirlwind dating options Darwin is losing hope he’ll find the right man to spark his interest for than a one night stand—until he sets eyes on Cody RussellA Mary's Boys Novella Darwin Michaels is living his dreams in the Mile High City While Denver offers the perfect job scrumptious dining and whirlwind dating options Darwin is losing hope he’ll find the right man to spark his interest for than a one night stand until he sets eyes on Cody Russell Cody has just accomplished. “You sure you don’t want something besides nachos I know it’s good to be a cheap date and all but you’re cute enough to earn a real dinner” Darwin’s on the latest of a long string of dates from hell and it’s taking all that is in him not to run screaming from the table He’s got his life in order college grad school a successful career and he’s ready to take that next step He’s been searching for the man who will help him achieve his dream of the house with a picket fence the husband and 35 kids but after this latest disaster of a date he’s about ready to swear off men for good Or for at least a little while Fortunately his newfound resolve is derailed by the adorable little twink of a waiter at Hamburger Mary’s “Do we really have to play Britney every night”“Of course we do She’s like the original diva Without her there’d be no Selena Gomez or Demi Lovato” There’s just something about Cody that Darwin can’t seem to resist He’s immediately enad with the little cutie and though he has some reservations about Cody’s age he decides to stick around and get to know him betterI have a confession to make This is my first Brandon Witt book and I have to say I liked it uite a bit in fact I went into this book not knowing anything about the way Witt writes and I was pleased by what I discovered By the blurb and the cover I was expecting a light romantic comedy and I got that for the most part but I also got a whole lot For me the overall theme of this book is perspective How one person views something is not necessarily how everyone else will see it This was clearest to me when Darwin and Cody were discussing their hopes and dreams How shocked Darwin was when he found out about Cody’s dreams He couldn’t fathom how Cody could be happy with what he wanted out of life and it made him look at it from Cody’s perspectiveThere are some darker moments in this story that I won’t get into I don’t want to spoil anything and it touched on some very sensitive subjects that had me waiting for the incredible angst but thankfully it wasn’t too angstyI know some once they read this will say it was too ‘insta love’ between Cody and Darwin and while yes they seemed to get together at breakneck speed and the ‘I love yous’ came soon after they got together it really worked for this story It felt organic to me like it was a natural progression I believed in their love And for those who say there’s no such thing as love at first sight Well let me just tell you I met my husband in a bar while he was on a date with another woman I could literally feel the connection between us from the moment our eyes met He ended up ditching his date and went home with me that night and never left Yes that’s right we moved in together the day we met Now here we are almost 21 years later There is such a thing as love at first sight I’ve seen it Hell I’m proof of itIf you’re looking for a feel good romance with a bit but not too much angst that delves deeper than what is just on the surface look no further than this book I think it’s safe to say that I will be reading a lot of Witt’s work in the very near future I see you now Mr Witt and I can’t wait to get my hands on book two

His life’s goal get the hell out of Kansas In one fell swoop he lands a job at Hamburger Mary’s and gets a newfound family and the chance to be with other gay people All that’s missing is someone special But when Darwin shows his interest Cody is sure it’s too good to be true After all what can Darwin possibly see i. Review originally posted at SinfullyI’m used to the Brandon Witt books I read being mostly drama and angst with a side of humor and lightness Nachos Hash was a delightful reversal Yes the MCs still have tough issues to face but this is a straightforward romance with a whole cast of loving and supportive characters to help push these two seemingly opposite men into holding onto what they want and deserveHaving recently escaped the small town Kansas hell he grew up in Cody never dreamed he’d find a place where he can be himself in a job he loves with people he considers family He is happier than ever but is in constant fear it’s all a dream about to be taken away This fear is never realized than when the gorgeous Darwin shows an interest The fact that Darwin wants than a back alley BJ or a uickie in the bathroom boggles Cody’s mind Why would a gorgeous smart man so obviously out of his league waste any time with him Cody’s low self esteem mostly a gift from his parents and I use that word loosely here isn’t going to allow him to feel completely happy and safe no less accept what Darwin is offeringDarwin is on another failure of a date He’s got a good job and is ready to settle down so he has been dating with that end goal in mind As this latest date crashes and burns he is drawn to the server in the restaurant Hamburger Mary’s Something about the “kid” draws him Darwin may seem to have it all together but he can relate to Cody in ways than one They both struggled to break away from a small Midwestern town but there is even that they share It scares Darwin how much he wants with the almost fragile Cody but he can only deny his feelings for so longThis isn’t an age gap story Cody is 21 and Darwin 24 but it sometimes felt that way only because of the gaps in their maturity and outlook on life Cody is so unsure of himself when it comes to their relationship while Darwin comes off as very mature and together It could have been a weird dynamic but having both their points of view throughout the story really endeared me to both men Their feelings come on suddenly and strong and both have valid reasons to doubt going forward but they also have such a hope and yearning that they are trying to hide from the other I couldn’t help but root for them As the men date it was really heartwarming to see Cody experience so many firsts and following his darkest moment find an inner strength that allows him to reach out and grab his chance at complete happinessAs I’ve found in the past here again Brandon Witt’s writing made everything feel real; from the characters to the settings to the emotions My heart hurt for Cody He has found everything he ever wanted and just wants to live his life but his past was obviously painful and left him skittish and feeling unworthy Darwin is a sweetheart but even he wonders if it’s a good idea to be involved Luckily the secondary cast provides much needed support to these two Cody’s co workers are fiercely protective of him truly are the family he never had meddling where necessary but not being over the topThis was a strong start to this series and I really enjoyed this lighter story from my usual Brandon Witt fare I’m glad that there will be to come of Mary’s Boys and am definitely looking forward the next book featuring the sexy flirty bartender
