Teaching with choice is in the best interest of students It not only respects them as learners but it also helps them to develop traits we value in adults; creativity perseverance flexibility self ex Holy moly This was exactly what I was looking for I have really been struggling with how to give my art students a authentic experience I have pushed open ended assignments as far as my current framework allows I was am looking for something that gives my students the freedom they keep askinglooking for when they come to art I have also been searching for a new framework due to an increased amount of behavior problems At first I thought it was my classroom management but after management revisions things seem to have stayed the same and in some cases gotten worse Could it be that spring break is just so close? Maybe Probably But there's to it than that One of the things that I love about this book is that Anne has really detailed what a choice based classroom looks and sounds like There are links to online videos that show specifically howwhat a typical class looks like This is especially helpful to someone like me that craves structure and instructions that I can refer back to This book helped me confront some of my fears how to address the aesthetics of true kid art with parents and administrators how to advocate for yourself and your program and simply how to get started I also am very grateful for the detailed curriculum map and pictures of how to organize that Anne provided If you're considering a choice based structure or just looking to add to your traditional structure this is an amazing resource for any teacher
