Ey With this restructuring everything changesIn this visionary book Bernard Lietaer and Jacui Dunne explore the origins of our current monetary system built on bank debt and scarcity revealing the surprising and sometimes shocking ways its unconscious limitations give rise to so many serious problems But there is hope The authors present stories of ordinary people and their communities using new money working in cooperation with national currencies to strengthen local economies create work beautify cities and prov This book is tackling a very important subject and it starts and finishes admirably Throughout the middle it stopped being the kind of book I wanted to read on this topic in a way that I can't exactly describe I'm not comfortable with this rating but I am sure this is a book worth reading

PDF ↠ BOOK Rethinking Money Ê As the United States struggles and the economies of Europe stagger we fail to see a way out of this agonizing cycle of repeated financial meltdowns In fact there are thousands of ways to solve not only our recurring fiscal crises but our ongoing social and ecological debacles as well Solutions are already in place where tIde education and so much is possible These real world examples are just the tip of the iceberg over 4000 cooperative currencies are already in existenceThe book provides remedies for challenges faced by governments businesses nonprofits local communities and even banks It demystifies a complex and critically important topic and will strike a deep chord with readers eager to find innovative meaningful solutions that will do far than restore prosperity it will provide the framework for an era of sustainable abundan Thought provoking book that shows how additional and alternative currencies can shape human behaviour for the better and shows how it has and can be used to resolve economic issues with our existing currenciesThe concepts are very interesting but I still found the book a little dry to read at times and I disagree with some of the proposed currency concepts such as A currency where the history of the money is sniff tested for where it came from; this would make many transactions complicated and if applied everywhere would make valuation extremely difficult p210 Dublin Ireland August 5 2020 I think we are likely to see a Black Mirror Nosedive style rating of people rather than the rating of the moneyI also think there are issues with the Terra currency p140 how is Terra any different than inflation eating away at regular money with its demarrage fee using regular currency means I avoid the final fee so there appears to be limited motivation for me to decide on using Terrpromising demarrage fee is essentially what has been happening in large parts of the world with short term bonds and cash instruments yielding a negative amount over time the Terra organization is setting itself up for significant risk; time between Terra issuance and the volatility of commodity prices could put the Terra bank in a possible bad position risking its own failure and perhaps a run on the bankMoney as it exists today does lead to certain types of behaviors and motivations some can be good others bad I do think additional currencies to promote positive human behaviour is interesting and as an alternative solution to future economic issues uite promising given that you can only lower interest rates and devalue currency so much and this drives a particular kind of economic activityOverall interesting read but difficult to get through
